With one last glance I’ll take my leave, my last shot in the dark gone quiet. Muttering out the door I’ll say, "No more karaoke.”


Cat-SittingIt was a careful kind of nervousness that struck me when I got the email that preceded her arrival. A quick, heavy-footed sprint to the bathroom and back— brush my hair and straighten my shirt—feet pounding on the floor. Gathered up the cat in my arms and waited by the window, and the cat clawed me and escaped back to the windowsill but it was alright when I opened the door and there she was. Ostensibly there to locate the cat food and the cat litter and the cat everything for her eventual cat-sitting job, she was, but she distracted herself with the cat and the music and she had to go, she had to go, but she stayed lCat-Sitting
